Thaifex Horec is the trade-show centerpiece of Asia's food and hospitality calendar. The expo brings in tens of thousands of buyers, suppliers, and operators every year — but the conference programming inside the show is what determines whether F&B operators actually stay, learn, and come back.

The challenge

Trade-show conferences usually default to sponsor-driven content. The result is a program that sells products but doesn't move operators. Thaifex wanted the opposite — a conference that operators would clear their schedule for, even if they weren't buying anything that day.

What we did

PenguinX took ownership of the conference end-to-end: theme architecture, speaker curation, session design, and on-floor experience. We programmed the content the way we program our own events — operator-first, sponsor-aligned but never sponsor-led.

Why it worked

Conference attendance held up across all session blocks — the rare trade-show conference where operators actually stayed in their seats. The Thaifex team came away with a programming template they could reuse, and exhibitors got the audience they were promised.

"Operators came for the show, but they stayed for the conference. That's the rarest win in this format."
